These kits are ready and easy to put together. We have collected the sticks you need and included two wooden discs for you to build your log cabin birdhouse on. You will need glue- a hot glue gun works well, as does a bottle of glue.
We will be loading several different types of instructions for you to review.
We hope you enjoy this opportunity to create your own unique birdhouse.
Log cabin birdhouse kit
We recomend that you choose which disc will be the floor of your birdhouse. When you have chosen the floor of your birdhouse, find the first sticks you will glue to it as the bottom of your walls. It is a good idea also to find the shorter sticks in your group of sticks- these will be the front of your birdhouse, where the entryway is located.
Use your glue to secure your first chosen sticks to the floor of your birdhouse. A full length stick across the bottom of the entryway is advised to keep baby birds from falling out. Now continue to work around your birdhouse, stacking more sticks up, securing them with glue. Your walls should all go up similarly in height. Remember to stack the short sticks so that the entryway is a good size for the birds to use. When you have built your house tall enough, you can put the roof on, secured with glue. Allow the glue to set and harden.
There may be extra sticks left over after you have finished building your birdhouse. You may choose to use these extra sticks in several different ways. Birds enjoy a front porch, so you may glue an extra stick to the top of the roof, or along the floor for a bird to perch on. Sometimes, we have included an oddly shaped stick in your kit, which you could use as a perch also.
When you are done building your kit, consider different options for making it available to the wild birds. You could screw a 2x4 to the bottom and then screw that 2x4 to a fence post or a side of your home. You may also screw 3 different short screws into the base of the birdhouse, and then tie a string to each of those screws, to then hang on a hook or branch.
